Our Faith
Our faith in Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, is important to us. We also are both long-time Lutherans, belonging to that branch of Protestants originated by Martin Luther.
Martin Luther was a monk born in 1483 in Germany. He fought against a number of practices of the Roman Catholic church of his day. In particular, he preached that the sale of indulgences was wrong. Indulgences were purchased by parishoners with the promise that they or their loved ones would then get to heaven. Luther's position is that is by God's grace alone, through our faith alone, in Jesus Christ alone was all that was required for our salvation.
