Well, Christmas Day has come and gone, so we figured it is time to be getting our Christmas greetings out. We wish to all of you the blessings and joy of Christmas. We received a letter recently from our former pastor, Bonnie Bell, reminding us that the message to Mary, Joseph, and the Shepherds was some variation of “Fear not”, or “Do not be Afraid”. In lives full of up and downs, those are comforting words – especially because the reason we do not need to be afraid is the “rest of the story” – God’s gift of love that came to us that first Christmas day. Our wish to you is Love to conquer all fear.

Christmas 2003

Wishing you a Blessed Christmas season and Joyous New Year!

It was wonderful to hear from so many of you as you shared your year — thank you!

As we write this letter we are getting ready for another trip to El Salvador; it will be Chris’s seventh trip and Kent’s sixth. As you probably all know, our church has a “sister community” relationship with a group of small, rural communities, all clustered around the largest of Guillermo Ungo. We have made many friends, and watching the children grow up is so much fun!! The big accomplishment is that they have built the school up to grade 12.

Warm Christmas Greetings and the Best of 2003 to you all!

I lift up my eyes to the hills—where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. Psalm 21:1-2

When we wrote our letter last year, we were about to go on a trip to Arizona, based on a seminar for nursing faculty in Scottsdale for Chris. We left early and stayed a few days in Sedona, home of the beautiful red rock formations. We also went to the Grand Canyon and saw it in beautiful winter splendor. We traveled on the Grand Canyon Railway from Williams to the Grand Canyon (and back).
